Day 2 of 25 Days of Christmas: Cookies For Santa (Easy To Make Icing & Cookie Cutter Dough)

Make Santa some personally decorated cookies with this simple rolled cookie dough, and easy to make icing!

Ingredients: 

For the cookies 

  •   1 & 1/2 cups of butter (3 sticks, softened)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract  
  • 5 cups all purpose flour  
  • 2 tsp baking powder 
  • 1 tsp salt  

For the icing 

  • 3 cups powdered sugar  
  • 1/4 cup milk, cream or half and half  
  • 2 tbsp light corn syrup  
  • (optional)  food coloring 

Instructions:  

For the cookies 

  1. Cream the butter and sugar till smooth. 
  2. Mix in the eggs and vanilla. 
  3. Gradually mix in flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Cover and chill for at least an hour.
  5. Preheat oven for 400
  6. Roll dough on a floured surface until it is about 1/2” thick. 
  7. Cut with desired cookie cutters  
  8. Place on cookie sheet 1” apart and bake for 6 or 7 minutes.

 For the icing

  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl. 
  2. If needed, add more milk or powdered sugar to reach desired consistency.  
  3. Divide into separate bowls and mix in colors before decorating your cookies. 
  4. Let icing dry on decorated cookies for at least an hour, but make sure the frosting is fully dry and hardened before serving.
